Rudolph (Rudy) Garcia is a highly rated Philadelphia lawyer who has served for decades as
a court-appointed and private mediator, arbitrator and judge pro
tempore
for matters pending in federal and state courts. In those capacities,
he has successfully resolved nearly every case. Since retiring from a
large firm at the end of 2015, Rudy has limited his practice to such
service as a neutral, in mediations, arbitrations and administrative
hearings.
Before leaving his large-firm practice to concentrate on
alternative dispute resolution, Rudy engaged in a wide variety of
complex civil litigation for nearly 40 years, in such areas as
antitrust, securities, banking, construction, intellectual property,
education, insurance and telecommunications, including numerous jury
trials, bench trials and arbitrations in federal and state courts. Some
of Rudy's representative matters were:
- Winning one of the largest jury verdicts in the
country and
the largest in Pennsylvania, according to The National Law Journal,
in
a federal antitrust case involving the electronic article surveillance
industry;
- Representing the Independent Examiner under an SEC
Consent
Order in an investigation of accounting issues at a Fortune 50 company;
- Successfully litigating and resolving an intellectual
property claim seeking more than $1 billion in the lighting controls
industry;
- Successfully litigating and resolving an $800 million
avoidance claim on behalf of a creditors committee for an insurance
conglomerate debtor; and
- Successfully litigating dozens of cases for wireless
service providers and tower companies under the Telecommunications Act
of 1996.
